Originally from Brighton, Nathan is currently in his final year at Manchester School of Art. His practice is based within social documentary photography, making long form projects exploring social issues and topics.
Using analogue methodologies, typically medium format film, Nathan’s work has a focus on stories centered around people, and therefore often leans towards portraiture.
Nathan uses the camera as a tool to help him learn about subjects and places he less aware of. An ongoing theme is the interaction between subject, photographer and audience within a photographic portrait.
To further portray his subjects, Nathan documents interiors and objects that have a strong connection to the subject matter. His projects often have an outcome in book form, meaning that sequencing of the images is important in building a narrative.
