Amy is a photography student at Manchester School of Art. She is mainly studio-based specialising in portraiture, beauty and fashion photography. She is interested in the power dynamics of photography and photographs her subjects through the female gaze.
Inspired by women’s art history and female self-portraiture, Amy’s current project utilises her body as a tool and blurring the lines between subject and object in self-portraiture. She looks at the female form being a personification of art rather than an exploitation of sexual desire.
Amy believes diversity is important within the photography and fashion industry, photographing a range of women with different styles, from different backgrounds. Her subjects are more than just models, they are friends, they are creatives and they are talented women. Although her images can be enjoyed in a commercial context, they are also a documentation of amazing women that she gets to collaborate with.
